Purpose of the Role

The Sales & Marketing Assistant Manager is responsible for driving sales growth, distribution expansion, and trade marketing execution across both General Trade (GT) and Modern Trade (MT) channels.

This role plays a key part in ensuring strong market penetration, outlet coverage, and brand visibility, while aligning sales operations with marketing initiatives to achieve business targets.
 

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute strategies to expand GT & MT distribution channels
  • Manage and grow relationships with distributors, wholesalers, and key retail partners
  • Ensure strong outlet coverage, product availability, and stock movement
  • Monitor daily/weekly/monthly sales performance vs targets
  • Identify new business opportunities and open new accounts (GT & MT)
  • Handle key accounts (supermarkets, mini marts, shopping centers)
  • Negotiate listing, promotions, shelf space, and visibility
  • Ensure proper merchandising, planogram execution, and stock availability
  • Coordinate in-store promotions and activation campaigns
  • Work closely with sub-distributors and sales reps to push sell-in & sell-out
  • Plan and execute trade promotions, incentives, and retailer programs
  • Monitor market feedback, competitor activity, and pricing
  • Plan and execute trade marketing campaigns for GT & MT
  • Align marketing activities with sales objectives (campaigns, promotions, bundles)
  • Support branding, POSM, and in-store visibility execution
  • Collaborate with creative team for campaign materials
  • Track KPIs: sales growth, distribution coverage, ROI on promotions
  • Analyse market trends and competitor performance
  • Prepare regular reports for National Sales Manager

Job Requirements

  • 2+ years experience in FMCG / Retail / GT & MT Sales or Trade Marketing
  • Strong network or experience with distributors and modern trade accounts
  • Proven track record in achieving sales targets and expanding distribution
  • Good negotiation and communication skills
  • Strong analytical and reporting skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, target-driven environment
