Job Summary

 

The Senior Manager in the Legal Department is a pivotal role responsible for overseeing the drafting, review, and negotiation of a wide array of contracts and legal documents. The incumbent will engage with various internal departments, particularly the Sourcing Department, to support negotiations with international vendors and ensure adherence to regulatory requirements. This role demands a proactive approach to legal issues, fostering innovation in legal processes and document standardization. The incumbent must have proven experience of 3-5 years in managing a team of at least 2-3 members within Legal Department. International experience will be considered a significant asset.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Contracts Drafting and Review:

  • Draft, review, and negotiate complex contracts, including vendor agreements, service contracts, non-disclosure agreements, and partnership agreements.
  • Ensure all contracts comply with company policies, risk management strategies, and regulatory requirements.

Legal Documentation:

  • Prepare, review, and manage legal documentation related to corporate governance, compliance, and operational matters.
  • Develop and standardize legal documents such as contracts, amendments, renewals, and terminations to streamline processes and ensure consistency.

RFP and RFQ Preparation:

  • Support the preparation of Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and Requests for Quotations (RFQs), ensuring legal soundness and alignment with the company’s strategic goals.

Support to Sourcing/Procurement Department:

  • Collaborate with the Sourcing Department to provide legal support during negotiations with local & international vendors.
  • Advise on the legal implications of sourcing strategies and vendor relationships, mitigating risks, and maximizing value.

People Leader:

  • Proven experience of 3-5 years in managing a team of atleast 2-3 members within Legal Department.

International Experience:

  • Leverage international legal experience to navigate cross-border transactions and compliance issues effectively.

Regulatory Compliance and Correspondence:

  • Serve as the liaison with regulatory bodies, managing all correspondence to ensure timely and effective communication.
  • Monitor changes in relevant laws and regulations, advising the company on necessary actions to maintain compliance.

Innovation and Process Improvement:

  • Develop and implement innovative solutions to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the Legal Department.
  • Lead initiatives to standardize legal processes and documentation, reducing complexity and improving accessibility for internal stakeholders.
  • Stay informed about emerging legal technologies and trends, recommending tools and systems to enhance legal operations.

Dispute Resolution:

  • Manage and resolve legal disputes and litigation, working with external legal counsel as necessary.

Training and Development:

  • Conduct training sessions for employees on relevant legal issues, compliance requirements, and company policies.

Job Requirements

Education

  • LL.B (or) LL.M degree in Law.

Experience

  • Minimum 12+ years proven experience as a lawyer; and atleast 8 years+ in telecom sector.
  • Advanced professional English. Any Additional language will be an added benefit.
  • People Manager – proven experience of 3-5 years in managing a team of atleast 2-3 members within Legal Department.
  • Intensive experience in supporting procurement and sourcing team.
  • Proven experience in drafting and negotiating complex contracts and legal documents.
  • Excellent Presentation Skills will be preferred.
  • Litigation Experience will be preferred.
  • Ability to work under pressure and respond to legal queries within specified time.
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically and provide innovative solutions to legal challenges.
