ROLE  PURPOSE
This role is pivotal working with the Head of Department in leading and overseeing the department’s efforts to maintain strong regulatory governance, ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, and effectively manage compliance risks. The individual will have the opportunity to drive continuous improvement, foster collaboration across divisions, and uphold the organization’s commitment to a culture of regulatory compliance across the bank.

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure the bank’s compliance with applicable regulatory requirements and stay updated on regulatory changes
  • Work closely with the Head of Department to drive the execution of the department’s strategy across all core functions, ensuring alignment with regulatory expectations and business priorities.
  • Manage and coordinate the implementation of regulatory governance initiatives across key functions of the department, ensuring alignment with the bank’s compliance obligations and risk appetite.
  • Manage the consolidation and analysis of data across the departments to support the preparation of executive-level reporting, dashboards, and regulatory submissions.
  • Manage the preparation of committee papers and board reports, ensuring content is accurate, timely, and aligned with compliance governance expectations.
  • Facilitate effective communication and collaboration between the department’s functions and other business units, ensuring consistent regulatory adherence and risk management practices.
  • Coordinate the department’s regulatory training and awareness initiatives, supporting capability uplift and reinforcing a culture of compliance across the bank.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance regulatory governance frameworks, compliance processes, and training programs.
  • Represent the department in internal and external meetings, including senior stakeholder meetings, working groups, and regulatory engagements, as delegated by the Head.
  • Perform other related duties as required to support the department and the bank’s overall regulatory governance objectives.

Job Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

Knowledge & Skills

  • Strong knowledge and practical understanding of legal and regulatory requirements relevant to the banking and financial services sector.
  • Solid grasp of compliance risk management principles and familiarity with governance structures and regulatory reporting obligations.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities, with strong attention to detail and a track record of producing high-quality reports and insights.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence, negotiate, and engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities, including experience in managing teams, developing talent, and driving performance in a regulatory or governance environment.
  • Professional, proactive, and solution-oriented mindset, with a strong sense of accountability and sound judgment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly PowerPoint and Excel, with the ability to prepare compelling presentations and compliance reports.

Education & Special Training

  • Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Law or a related discipline.
  • A relevant professional certification in compliance or related field (e.g.  CAMS, CRCM, ICA or equivalent) is highly desirable.

Experience

  • Minimum 3-5 years of knowledge and experience in banking or other financial services organizations within a regulated environment.
  • At least 1-2 years in managerial role demonstrating the ability to manage workflows and monitor the implementation of compliance programs or projects.
  • Proven experience in managing compliance programs, regulatory projects and facilitating cross functional collaboration.

Languages

  • Excellent interpersonal & communication skills in both English and Myanmar language.
  • Strong Business Proficiency in English, including reporting writing and presentation skill is required.
