3 Unconscious Habits that Make You Lose Money

Ever since ancient times, money has always been a part of our daily lives. Money is important to humans just like how we need food and water to survive.  Even if you have a stable job – like banking jobs in Myanmar, perhaps – if your wallet and bank account are empty, you won’t be able to buy basic necessities.

Earning money is never easy but receiving your paycheck is something you probably look forward to. While it is tempting to just buy things randomly because you feel like it, remember that living paycheck to paycheck is not a very healthy lifestyle. Don’t worry though; there are plenty of things that you can do to save money. Here are some habits that you probably have that make you lose money fast: 

Buying Your Lunches Daily

Before you go buy your lunch in the nearby convenience store, stop for a moment and think about your expenses. Is the food there really worth buying on a daily basis? Some fast food establishments sell an extra cup of rice for a big amount of money which is a little too much for a mere serving. The best thing to do is prepare your lunch at home instead. That way, you will save money and know what’s exactly going in your body since it is you who cooked the food. While it is tempting to indulge in that fancy restaurant, maybe you should reserve it for a special occasion especially if you are on a budget.

This goes for the snacks you buy as well. Sometimes, the brand is just, well, a name. Some things can’t be imitated but inexpensive brands often taste pretty close. If you love a certain brand of chips that costs as much as your commute fare, try to go for the cheaper alternatives. You will surely save a lot of money! 

Riding a Cab Every Day

Taking a cab is probably one of the quickest and most efficient ways to go from one place to another, especially for those who don’t own a car. They may be convenient because of the air conditioning and reliability, but cabs are proven to be really expensive. Riding cabs everyday can really take a toll on your budget so try to find cheaper ways to commute. If you are going to hang out with your friends in a mall that is just a few blocks away, then maybe it is better to walk. 

Thinking Short-Term

Some people often think about their short term needs instead of long-term when it comes to spending their money. With things like toiletries, office supplies, and anything that you use on a regular basis, long-term thinking is the way to go; for example, if you need to buy shampoo and conditioner, better buy the big bottles instead of the small ones. While the latter is cheaper, the bigger bottles will definitely last longer. Through time, you will see that long-term thinking will help you save more money.

If you are aware that you have any of the habits stated above, work on changing them. Spend your money wisely from now on so that you can save up and have money in case of emergency.
