Job Description

  • Assist the COO in executing the Bank’s overall business strategy, operational priorities, performance management, ensuring alignment with the Board-approved strategic plan and risk appetite.
  • Lead Branch, Retail and Commercial Banking performance and Bancassurance, driving sustainable growth in loans, deposits, revenue, profitability, customer acquisition, portfolio quality, and branch productivity.
  • Oversee Credit Underwriting and portfolio quality, ensuring sound credit assessment, policy adherence, appropriate turnaround time, disciplined growth, and effective coordination between Business, Credit, Risk, and Operations.
  • Lead Product Development, Marketing & Communication, including market analysis, new product development, pricing, product profitability, customer acquisition, brand positioning, and integrated marketing campaigns.
  • Drive International Banking and Digital & Channel Banking, covering correspondent banking, trade finance, remittance, international payments, digital banking, ATM, agent and other alternative channels to enhance revenue, customer experience, and transaction efficiency.
  • Lead annual business and budget planning and performance monitoring, including revenue, cost, profitability, resource allocation, KPI/BSC targets, budget variance, and corrective actions across assigned business functions.
  • Strengthen cross-functional execution and management governance by coordinating with Risk, Finance, Compliance, IT, People Management, Operations and Internal Audit, identifying business and operational issues, supporting management committees, and providing timely performance and strategic recommendations to the COO/CEO.
  • Identify the training and development needs for all levels of business and operations staffs and ensure that required training programs are executed

Job Requirements

Education and training:

  • Has a bachelor’s or master’s degree, ideally in banking, finance, accounting, business administration or economics from an accredited university in Myanmar or abroad or relevant professional certification and training

Experience

  • 7 to 10 years of progressive management experience in financial institutions and at least 5 years at an executive level
  • A Strong background in business, banking, management and employee management.

Knowledge, skills and abilities.

  • Familiarity with relevant operating systems of a bank.
  • Technical knowledge of bank operations in one or more operational areas, such as retail banking, mortgage processing or branch operations.
  • Sound knowledge of all operational requirements with regard to the administration, compliance, risk, finance and legal functions of a bank.
  • Understanding on applicable laws including Myanmar Financial Institutions Law, regulations, directives, instructions and guidelines issued by the Central Bank of Myanmar.
  • High ethical standards and integrity in both the personal and professional dealings.
  • Excellent written, verbal and communications skills.
  • Excellent technical and analytical problem-solving abilities.
