Role overview

Plan and supervise electrical work for LED displays and related media installations, from design and site surveys through safe installation, testing, maintenance and technical handover.

Site planning and installation

•  Electrical surveys and planning. Confirm available power with site management; assess loads, distribution panels, cable routes, grounding and surge protection; prepare electrical installation requirements.

•  Pre-installation equipment inspection. Check LED cabinets and modules, power supplies, receiving cards, controller sending boxes, data and power cables, frames and mounting accessories before installation.

•  Structural and alignment verification. Check steel frames and supports against approved drawings; inspect levelness, vertical alignment, fixing points and locking systems. Obtain structural-strength review from a qualified

professional before final mounting.

•  Hanging system safety. Inspect hanging points, load ratings, suspension hardware and fall-prevention arrangements before lifting or hanging an LED display; resolve discrepancies with the qualified structural and lifting teams.

•  Property and infrastructure protection. Supervise installation to prevent damage to ceilings, walls, floors, glass, existing structures, electrical systems, signage, equipment and public areas.

•  Risk and negligence management. Identify unsafe practices, careless handling, improper installation methods and contract noncompliance; record issues, require correction and escalate material risks.

•  Contractor workforce supervision. Monitor contractor and subcontractor personnel on site; check installation sequence, workmanship and completed work against approved drawings and specifications.

•  LED concepts and technical drawings. Develop LED installation concepts, technical layouts and drawings covering display dimensions, mounting, power supply, access and cabling.

Design, safety and operations

•  LED driver and light engine design. Design LED driver software and light engine systems for project requirements, and work with vendors on integration and testing.

•  Site safety and lifting. Inspect personnel, subcontractor arrangements, tools, lifting plans and work methods; review and approve site safety measures within delegated authority, and escalate unsafe work immediately.

•  Protective equipment compliance. Ensure installation personnel use suitable helmets, safety shoes, gloves, safety harnesses and other protective equipment required for their tasks.

•  Prototype development. Create and build prototype models for LED display and installation designs; test fit and performance before production or deployment.

•  Performance simulation and calculations. Estimate and calculate optical, thermal and electrical performance of proposed LED systems; review results with vendors before installation or commissioning.

•  Commissioning and handover. Test electrical protection, controller configuration, display operation and content playback; record results, resolve defects and complete handover documents.

•  Maintenance and technical support. Plan inspections, troubleshoot faults, coordinate repairs and spare parts, maintain service records, and support safe dismantling or relocation when needed.

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering or a related field. Professional Engineer registration or a recognized electrical certification is highly preferred.
• Three to five years of electrical engineering experience, preferably in outdoor media, LED digital signage, industrial automation or commercial installations.
• Experience supervising contractors, lifting activities and structural mounting work, including vendor and subcontractor oversight.
• Strong knowledge of LED modules, switching power supplies, sending and receiving controllers (such as NovaStar or Colorlight), video processors and related cabling.
• Proficiency in single-phase and three-phase distribution, circuit breakers, grounding or earthing systems, cable sizing and surge protection devices.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, electrical design software and LED configuration software; ability to design or oversee LED driver, light engine and prototype work.
• Sound occupational health and safety knowledge, including work at height and structural and electrical risk assessments.
• Strong project management, supervision and problem-solving skills under time-sensitive campaign launch deadlines.
• Clear oral and written communication with creative teams, clients, property management, vendors and technical site crews; willingness to support planned site work outside regular hours.
