Job Description

A Good Opportunity for ..

We are looking for a highly skilled Geologist & Mining Specialist to join our mining and exploration team. This role is responsible for identifying, evaluating, and developing mineral resources while ensuring that mining operations are conducted safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with regulatory standards.

The successful candidate will work closely with geologists, mining engineers, government authorities, and environmental teams, playing a key role in exploration, resource evaluation, operations management, and stakeholder engagement.

 

Key Responsibilities

Exploration & Geological Studies

  • Plan, coordinate, and conduct field geological surveys, mapping, trenching, sampling, and drilling programs.
  • Collect and analyse geological, geochemical, and geophysical data to assess mineral deposits.
  • Use geological modelling software (Surpac, Datamine, Micro mine, Leapfrog, ArcGIS) for 2D/3D resource modelling.
  • Prepare geological maps, cross-sections, and reserve estimates to support exploration and feasibility studies.

Resource Evaluation & Mine Planning

  • Conduct resource and reserve estimations in compliance with JORC, NI 43-101, or equivalent standards.
  • Collaborate with mining engineers to optimize mine design, sequencing, and ore recovery strategies.
  • Provide technical input for drilling, blasting, and excavation operations to minimize dilution and maximize recovery.

Operations Support & Monitoring

  • Oversee grade control, ore reconciliation, and production tracking.
  • Support processing and metallurgy teams with geological insights.
  • Conduct geotechnical assessments to ensure slope stability and safe mine development.

Government Relations & Documentation Process

  • Prepare and submit required reports, licenses, and compliance documents to government agencies.
  • Liaise with mining authorities, environmental regulators, and local stakeholders to secure permits and maintain good standing.
  • Ensure all exploration and mining activities comply with national mining laws, environmental regulations, and international reporting standards.

Team Leadership & Management

  • Lead and supervise a team of junior geologists, field technicians, and drilling contractors.
  • Provide training, mentorship, and performance evaluations to build team capabilities.
  • Coordinate cross-functional collaboration between exploration, engineering, environmental, and safety departments.

Operations & Project Management

  • Manage exploration and mining project timelines, budgets, and resource allocation.
  • Ensure operational efficiency by optimizing fieldwork, logistics, and reporting.
  • Implement and enforce Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) standards across all operations.
  • Act as a key technical advisor to senior management and project stakeholders for decision-making.

Technical Reporting & Stakeholder Communication

  • Prepare technical reports, feasibility studies, and presentations for management, investors, and regulators.
  • Maintain accurate records of drilling logs, sample databases, and geological models.
  • Represent the company at industry conferences, stakeholder meetings, and community engagements.

Education & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Mining Engineering, Earth Sciences, or related field (Master’s preferred).
  • Professional membership (AusIMM, AIG, SME, or equivalent) is an advantage.

Experience:

  • 7+ years of experience in geology and mining operations.
  • Demonstrated success in exploration, mine planning, and resource estimation.
  • Experience working with government mining departments, regulatory documentation, and permitting.
  • Proven leadership in managing geology and mining operations teams.

Technical Skills:

  • Advanced proficiency in geological and mining software (Surpac, Datamine, Micro mine, Leapfrog, ArcGIS).
  • Strong knowledge of geektastic, rock mechanics, mineral processing, and mining optimization.
  • Skilled in preparing and managing government reports, compliance documentation, and stakeholder communication.

Soft Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong leadership, team management, and mentoring skills.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project management abilities.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills for dealing with government bodies and stakeholders.
  • Ability to thrive in remote, field-based environments.
