Operational/ Strategic Planning
-
To develop and review curriculum overviews, unit plans, resources, marking policies, assessment and teaching and learning strategies in the faculty.
-
To oversee the day-to-day management, control and operation of course provision within the faculty, including the effective deployment of staff and physical resources;
-
To actively monitor and track student progress and follow up on intervention strategies employed;
-
To implement school policies and procedures.
-
To work with colleagues to formulate aims, objectives and strategic plans for the faculty which have coherence and relevance to the needs of students, the strategic plans of the school and external agencies to whom the school is accountable.
Curriculum
-
To liaise with the heads of section to ensure the delivery of appropriate, comprehensive, high-quality curricular programmes.

To be accountable for the development and delivery of the faculty's curricula
-
To keep up to date with and respond to, IGCSE and A Level developments(Mandarin), government requirements and CIS standards as they relate to subjects within the faculty and communicate these to teachers and the Senior Leadership team.

To keep up to date with and respond to teaching practices and methodology.
Recruitment/Deployment of Staff
-
To work as a member of the secondary school leadership team to ensure that staff development needs are identified and that appropriate programmes are designed to meet such needs;
-
To undertake performance appraisals within the language faculty.
-
To make appropriate arrangements for classes when staff are absent, ensuring appropriate cover within the faculty, liaising with the head of section to secure the appropriate cover.
-
To participate in the interview process for teaching posts when required and to ensure effective induction of new staff in line with school procedures.
-
To promote teamwork and to motivate staff to ensure effective working relations.
-
To be responsible for the day-to-day management of staff within the faculty and act as a positive role model.
Quality Assurance
-
To establish the process of the setting of targets within the faculty and to work towards their achievement;
-
To establish common standards of practice within the faculty and develop the effectiveness of learning and teaching;
-
To contribute to the school procedures for lesson observation;
-
To seek/implement modification and improvement where required;
-
To produce an annual faculty report, examinations analysis and faculty review.
Management Information
-
To ensure the maintenance of accurate and up-to-date information concerning the faculty on the school management system.
-
To analyse and evaluate, with the faculty, performance data of students from across the primary and secondary school and take appropriate action in response.
Communications
-
To ensure that all members of the faculty are familiar with faculty aims and objectives
-
To annually review and update information about the subjects within the faculty in all school publications.
-
To disseminate information from Head of Faculty meetings.
-
To ensure effective communication/consultation as appropriate with the parents of students.
-
To liaise, where appropriate, with partner schools, higher education, industry, examination boards, government departments, awarding bodies and other relevant external bodies;
-
To represent the faculty's views and interests.
Marketing and Liaison
Management of Resources
-
To manage the available resources of staff, finance, space and equipment efficiently within the limits, guidelines and procedures laid down; including deploying the faculty budget.

To work with the head of sections in order to ensure that the faculty's teaching commitments are effectively and efficiently timetabled and accommodated.
Pastoral System
-
To ensure the behaviour management policy is implemented in the faculty so that effective learning can take place.
-
To monitor and support the overall progress and development of students within the faculty.
-
To monitor student attendance together with students' progress and performance with faculty teachers, in relation to targets set for each individual; ensuring that follow-up procedures are adhered to and that appropriate action is taken where necessary.

To contribute to PSHE, citizenship and other cross-curricular issues according to school policy.

Job Requirements
Qualifications and experience
-
Recognised teaching qualification (Bachelors of Education or Masters degree in Education)
-
A minimum three years of successful teaching experience in Myanmar language.
-
Experience of teaching students from a wide age and ability range.
Skills and knowledge
-
Knowledge and experience of language curricula and external examination requirements (Mandarin)
-
Knowledge and experience of the Myanmar national government curriculum (Myanmar)
-
Fluency in Myanmar language
-
Knowledge of effective teaching and learning strategies
-
A good understanding of how children learn
-
Ability to adapt teaching to meet students’ needs
-
Ability to build effective working relationships with students
-
Knowledge of guidance and requirements around safeguarding children
-
Knowledge of effective behaviour management strategies

Good ICT skills, particularly using ICT to support learning
