Job Description

The Product Manager is responsible for managing product categories for the wholesale and distribution business, including sourcing, supplier management, pricing, demand planning, and profitability. This role ensures the right product mix, competitive pricing, and strong supplier partnerships to drive sales growth and market competitiveness.

Key Responsibilities

Category & Product Strategy

  • Develop and execute category strategies for wholesale distribution of products
  • Analyze market trends, customer demand, and competitor activities
  • Manage product lifecycle from sourcing to phase-out
  • Identify opportunities for new product introductions and category expansion

Supplier & Import Management

  • Source and onboard local and international suppliers
  • Build strong relationships with the product principal
  • Negotiate pricing, contracts, and commercial terms
  • Coordinate product import processes from overseas suppliers (If any)
  • Ensure product quality and compliance standards

Pricing & Profitability Management

  • Develop pricing strategies for wholesale and project customers
  • Monitor margins, landed costs, and profitability
  • Conduct cost analysis and recommend price adjustments
  • Manage promotional pricing and bulk discount strategies

Sales & Channel Collaboration

  • Work closely with sales teams to support key accounts and project sales
  • Provide product training and technical knowledge to sales staff
  • Support tender submissions and large project opportunities
  • Collaborating with marketing on product launches and promotions

Demand Planning & Inventory Management

  • Forecast demand and plan stock levels
  • Coordinate with the supply chain to ensure product availability
  • Monitor slow-moving and fast-moving items
  • Reduce stock aging and overstock risks

Market Intelligence & Reporting

  • Track competitor pricing and product offerings
  • Analyze sales performance and market share
  • Prepare monthly performance reports and recommendations

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, Chemistry, or related field
  • MBA or a relevant professional certification is an advantage
  • 4–7 years of experience in Product Management, Category Management, or Sourcing
  • Strong experience in surface finishing products, coatings solutions, or related building materials is required
  • Experience in wholesale distribution, construction materials, or interior products preferred
  • Hands-on experience with product application systems, technical specifications, and performance-based materials is highly preferred
  • Experience working with overseas suppliers and import processes is a strong advantage
  • Strong understanding of surface preparation, application techniques, and product performance standards
  • Familiarity with color trends, finish types, and customer usage requirements
  • Ability to manage technical product categories with performance-based specifications
  • Experience in pricing, cost structure, and margin management for specialized product categories
  • Strong supplier negotiation and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to support sales teams with technical product knowledge and project-based requirements
