CIAT Myanmar is seeking a committed and proactive Assistant Project Manager / Livelihood Specialist to support the implementation of post-earthquake recovery and resilience programs in Mandalay. This role involves planning, coordinating, and managing livelihood recovery interventions aimed at restoring and strengthening the income-generating capacities of affected communities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Project Manager in the overall planning, implementation, monitoring, and reporting of earthquake response activities, especially focused on livelihood recovery.
  • Conduct rapid needs assessments and vulnerability analysis in affected communities to design appropriate livelihood interventions.
  • Facilitate the implementation of livelihood support programs such as cash-for-work, vocational training, micro-grants, and small business recovery.
  • Coordinate with various authorities, community leaders, and other humanitarian actors to ensure alignment and avoid duplication of efforts.
  • Monitor progress of livelihood activities and ensure timely reporting of results and challenges.
  • Organize and conduct community meetings, training, and awareness sessions related to income generation and economic resilience.
  • Ensure that gender, protection, and inclusion principles are integrated in all livelihood programming.
  • Provide administrative and logistical support to ensure effective project delivery.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Development Studies, Economics, Agriculture, Social Work, or a related field.
  • At least 2 years of experience in livelihood or community development projects, preferably in an emergency or post-disaster setting.
  • Strong understanding of livelihood strategies, economic recovery, and community mobilization.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills, with experience working directly with communities.
  • Ability to coordinate and work collaboratively with local authorities, NGOs, and donor partners.
  • Fluency in Myanmar language; ability to communicate in English is a strong advantage.
  • Knowledge of the Mandalay region and its socio-economic context is preferred.
  • Desirable Attributes: Experience working in humanitarian settings or on disaster response/recovery projects.
  • Flexibility, adaptability, and sensitivity to cultural and community dynamics.
  • Computer proficiency (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Contract Type: Fixed-term – 6 months (with possible extension depending on project needs and funding)
