An audience comprising 500+ CEOs, MDs and HR professionals attended the Myanmar HR Industry Q1 Conference on Tuesday 19th February at Novotel Max Yangon. Powered by JobNet, the conference was presented as part of JobNet’s professional series that encourages the sharing of knowledge and experience to ensure the continued development of the human resources industry in Myanmar.
Mr. Matt De Luca, Managing Director of JobNet said that the conference was the 9th conference organized by JobNet in the last three years. “HR is everyone’s responsibility” he said, “Today we gather here to discuss one of the most debated topics in management and leadership. We have a number of local and international experienced speakers who will share their valuable insights on the topic of change, and what leaders should be aware of during a transformation process. I am certain that the audience will walk away from this conference with really practical and actionable insights.”
Session 1:
The conference commenced with a session by Mr. De Luca; sharing data from JobNet’s recently published Q4 Myanmar Employment Market Report. This included insight into the most demand job functions that companies have recruited for the last whole year 2018, which job functions are the most competitive for job seekers and which job functions are the most dominated according to gender. His presentation also included the launch of a few significant platform updates, the JobNet Online profile and the JobNet Applicant Tracking System for companies who want to digitize the storage of their CVs. The goal with the JobNet profile is for every candidate to be able to build a professional CV.
Session 2:
Following this, Mr. Johannes Golueke, Senior Consultant of Roland Berger, which is a JobNet partner for this event and an international independent management consulting company, gave a detailed presentation titled “Company transformation and the necessary emotional energy required to succeed”.
Session 3:
Expanding on the subject of a successful business transformation, Mr. Luc de Waegh, Managing Partner and Ms. Yee Mon Kyaw, Certified Trainer from international training company Dale Carnegie gave an inspiring presentation titled “How to build up emotional energy in an organisation”.
Session 4:
The last session comprised a powerful panel including local and international HR experts who discussed the topic of “Fearless in uncertain times”, sharing from their own experience and years working in organisations of all shapes and forms how companies can better prepare and execute effective change management programs. The panel was moderated by Mr. Paul Nyan Myint Soe, Sr. HRBP Manager, Unilever. Other panelists who joined on stage with Mr. Nyan Myint Soe were Ms. Sally Low, Director of Human Resources, United Amara Bank, Ms. Mi Mi Thet, HR Director, Yoma Bank, Mr. Martin Appel, Group Head of HR, Yoma Strategic Holdings, Ms. Pwint Phyu Han, Chief Human Resources Officer, CMHL and Ms. Phyu Pwint Khine, Head of Human Resources, Myanmar Citizens Bank.
