Job Description

  • Financial Management & Reporting

    • Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.

    • Ensure compliance with IFRS/MFRS and MFI-specific accounting standards.

    • Present financial reports to Management.

  • Accounting & Control

    • Supervise daily accounting operations (cash, bank, loan portfolio, payables, receivables, fixed assets).

    • Ensure proper reconciliations of bank accounts, loan accounts, and suspense accounts.

    • Establish strong internal control systems.

  • Regulatory Compliance

    • Ensure timely submission of reports to regulators (e.g., Financial Regulatory Department, Central Bank).

    • Monitor compliance with taxation, labor laws, and financial regulations.

  • Budgeting & Forecasting

    • Develop annual budgets and financial forecasts in collaboration with management.

    • Monitor and control departmental and institutional expenditures.

  • Audit & Risk Management

    • Coordinate internal and external audits.

    • Implement recommendations from auditors.

    • Identify and mitigate financial risks.

  • Leadership & Team Development

    • Supervise and mentor the accounts team.

    • Provide training and capacity building for staff.

    • Ensure timely performance evaluations.

Job Requirements

Education & Qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Commerce (mandatory).

  • Professional certifications (CPA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent) preferred.

  • Master’s in Finance/Accounting is an advantage.

Experience

  • Minimum 7–10 years of progressive experience in accounting/finance, at least 3 years in a managerial role.

  • Experience in Microfinance, Banking, or Financial Institutions is highly desirable.

  • Strong knowledge of MFI loan accounting, portfolio management, and regulatory requirements.

Skills & Competencies

  • Excellent knowledge of IFRS, taxation, and regulatory frameworks.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Proficiency in accounting software (MFI-specific systems).

  • High integrity, confidentiality, and ethical standards.

  • Strong leadership, communication, and team management skills.

  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
