Key Responsibilities
A. MEP Design & Technical Review

  • Review all MEP drawings, shop drawings, and technical submissions
  • Ensure design compliance with project specifications and international standards (ASHRAE, BS, IEC, NFPA where applicable)
  • Coordinate design integration with architectural and structural teams
  • Validate system design for HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and ELV systems

B. Project Execution & Installation

  • Oversee installation of all MEP systems on-site
  • Ensure proper sequencing of MEP works with civil and structural activities
  • Supervise contractors and subcontractors for HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and fire systems
  • Monitor site progress and resolve technical installation issues

C. Testing, Commissioning & Handover

  • Manage testing & commissioning (T&C) of all MEP systems
  • Ensure proper system balancing, troubleshooting, and performance validation
  • Prepare handover documentation and as-built drawings
  • Coordinate with clients and consultants for final acceptance

D. Coordination & Project Management

  • Work closely with civil, architectural, and structural teams
  • Coordinate with procurement for MEP materials and equipment approval
  • Attend coordination meetings and provide technical reporting
  • Ensure timely delivery of MEP scope within project schedule

E. Quality, Safety & Compliance

  • Enforce QA/QC standards for all MEP installations
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, fire regulations, and building codes
  • Conduct site inspections and quality audits
  • Implement risk mitigation strategies for MEP systems

F. Cost Control & Value Engineering

  • Review BOQ for MEP systems and control project costs
  • Evaluate vendor proposals and technical specifications
  • Identify value engineering opportunities without compromising quality
  • Monitor variation orders and cost impacts

G. Team Leadership

  • Lead MEP engineers, supervisors, and technical teams
  • Provide technical guidance and problem-solving support
  • Develop team capability through training and mentoring
  • Ensure productivity and discipline across MEP workforce

Job Requirements

Position Overview

The Chief Engineer (MEP) is responsible for leading all Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) engineering works across development projects including residential, commercial, industrial, and mixed-use developments. The role ensures all MEP systems are designed, installed, tested, and commissioned in accordance with project requirements, international standards, safety regulations, and budget targets.
Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical / Electrical / Mechatronics Engineering or related field
  • Minimum 8–15 years of experience in MEP engineering
  • At least 3–5 years in a senior leadership or Chief Engineer role
  • Strong experience in building services (residential, commercial, industrial projects)
  • Experience in HVAC, electrical distribution, plumbing, fire fighting systems

 Technical Skills

  • Strong knowledge of HVAC design and installation
  • Electrical power distribution systems and load calculations
  • Plumbing, drainage, and water supply systems
  • Fire protection and fire alarm systems
  • ELV systems (CCTV, Access Control, BMS preferred)
  • Ability to read and coordinate MEP shop drawings
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, Revit MEP (preferred), MS Project

 Soft Skills

  • Strong leadership and coordination skills
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting ability
  • Strong communication with consultants and contractors
  • Ability to manage multiple systems under tight deadlines
  • High responsibility and decision-making capability
