ROLE PURPOSE

Specialist/ Senior Specialist - Corporate Banking (Underwriting) is responsible for conducting comprehensive financial and credit assessments of corporate clients to support lending decisions. The role involves analyzing financial performance, evaluating credit risks, preparing credit proposals, and providing recommendations to ensure sound underwriting decisions aligned with the company’s risk management policies. The position will support the Team Lead in managing corporate credit analysis activities, improving underwriting quality, and ensuring timely delivery of credit assessments.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Corporate Credit Analysis & Underwriting

  • Conduct detailed financial analysis of corporate customers, including financial statements, cash flow, profitability, liquidity, leverage, and business performance.
  • Assess creditworthiness and repayment capacity of corporate borrowers.
  • Analyze business models, industry conditions, market position, and key risk factors.
  • Identify potential credit risks and provide mitigation recommendations.
  • Prepare credit analysis reports and underwriting recommendations for approval.

 

Financial Statement Review & Risk Assessment

  • Review audited and management financial statements to evaluate company performance.
  • Perform ratio analysis, trend analysis, cash flow assessment, and debt repayment analysis.
  • Evaluate working capital requirements, borrowing needs, and funding structures.
  • Analyze financial projections, assumptions, and sensitivity scenarios.
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of financial information used for credit decisions.

Credit Proposal Preparation

  • Prepare high-quality credit assessment reports, credit memorandums, and approval documents.
  • Provide clear recommendations regarding loan structures, limits, repayment terms, and risk considerations.
  • Coordinate with Relationship Managers, Credit Officers, and relevant stakeholders to collect required information.
  • Ensure credit proposals comply with internal underwriting standards and policies. 

Team Support & Process Improvement

  • Support the Team Lead in managing daily underwriting activities and workload allocation.
  • Review junior analysts’ work and provide guidance when necessary.
  • Assist in improving credit analysis methodologies, templates, and processes.
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies, regulatory requirements, and risk management standards.

Job Requirements

Knowledge & Skills                  

  • Professional qualifications such as LCCI level 3, ACCA, CPA, FRM, or credit-related certifications are preferred

Education & Special Training   

  • Master’s degree or bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or related fields

Experience

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in corporate banking, corporate credit analysis, underwriting or risk management

Languages

  • Strong English communication skills, with fluency in both written and spoken English
