ROLE PURPOSE

To carry out detailed credit risk analysis and vetting of SME loan files, ensuring compliance with Yoma Bank credit policies, CBM regulations, and legal requirements. The role supports the maintenance of portfolio quality by identifying risk factors, recommending mitigations, and preparing risk comments for approval.

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES                                  

Credit Risk Analysis & Vetting

  • Perform credit risk analysis of new and existing Commercial, SME, Agri-SME, SOD, SCF, and HL loan files (HOD and Chief DOA)

  • Review approval forms and documents submitted by branches/business units for completeness, accuracy, and compliance.

  • Assess business, industry, financial, security, credit, and default risks of SME borrowers.

  • Cross-check serviceability ratios (ICR, DSCR, etc.), bank statements, and financial records to identify discrepancies or undisclosed exposures.

  • Verify collateral valuation (MV, FSV, LTV) as per CVT and ensure proper grading of credit and collateral risks.

  • Comment on borrower/guarantor suitability, collateral ownership, corporate/shareholding structures, and compliance with Myanmar customary law where applicable.

  • Review compliance with prior approval terms & conditions in renewal/additional cases.

  • Review and assess interim requests such as borrower/portion changes, collateral swaps/releases, and partial settlements, and issue approval notifications with applicable T&Cs once it is approved by the relevant authority.

 

Risk Commenting & Recommendations

  • Credit Risk Department (CRD) comments highlighting identified risks and recommending mitigations.

  • Propose approval/rejection/reduction with clear Terms & Conditions (T&C), covering borrower details, guarantors, facility type, repayment, pricing, collateral, and compliance matters.

  • Ensure recommendations align with YB credit policy, CBM guidelines, and relevant laws/regulations.

 

File Management & Escalation

  • Record loan file details (receipt date, request type, source, officer in charge) upon receipt.

  • Request clarifications from branches/business units for missing information and return incomplete files within 3 working days if not resolved.

  • Escalate suspicious files to Team Leader/HOD; participate in surprise unit visits as instructed.

  • Submit vetted files to the approving authority in line with Delegation of Authority (DoA) procedures.

  • Issue approval notifications with T&C once facility is approved by authority.

  • Issue Facility documents such as Facility Agreement, Personal Guarantee (L12), Corporate Guarantee (CG) and credit related documents (if any).

 

Compliance & Audit Support

  • Provide required files, data, and support to internal and external auditors.

  • Monitor compliance with bank policies, CBM regulations, and other legal requirements.

  • Support Recovery & Collections team by providing information on SME files when required.

Continuous Knowledge & Development

  • Stay updated on new laws, regulations, and guidelines from CBM, ministries, and regulatory bodies affecting SME borrowers.

  • Monitor industry/market developments to identify emerging risks relevant to SME lending.

  • Carry out additional assignments and tasks as directed by Team Leader/HOD.

Job Requirements

Education & Special Training

  • University degree in Accounting / Finance / Economics / Engineering or otherwise quantitative field.

Experience

  • Minimum 3 years work experience in Analysis/underwriting of commercial loans.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Good understanding of financial statements.

  • Good understanding of credit analysis and key risks associated with commercial lending.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as strong analytical, problem solving and critical thinking.

  • Proficiency in English Presentation and Communication will be a plus.

Languages

  • Proficient written and speaking in both English and Myanmar.
