ROLE PURPOSE 

  • Lead and implement the credit risk management framework of Yoma Bank, which includes ongoing identification, assessment, monitoring and reporting of key exposures and risks, and the management of these key risks.  

  • Responsible in the setting of risk appetite, risk tolerance and mitigation strategies 

  • Develop strong relationships with key stakeholders within the bank by addressing issues/concerns in a timely manner. 

  • Ensure an understanding of key credit risks and exposures among management and facilitate responsible and effective risk-taking in line with risk appetite and tolerance. 

  • Keeping updated on latest technological changes such as data analytics and artificial intelligence that can be applied to risk management. 

  • Exposure and opportunity to work with Department Heads and Chiefs to recommend strategies to manage risk 

Job Responsibilities 

  • Support HOD in establishing internal loan controls, Review, modify and issue revised Credit Policy and all other Credit related guidelines, Process & Procedures manuals, Loan instructions, Memos etc.   

  • Support HOD in reviewing and modifying all existing systems and Procedures required for Credit Risk Management.     

  • Collaborate with Product development department by establishing processes and procedures for new Loan products.   

  • Collaborate with “Risk Analytical & Infrastructure” department in preparing and establishing Credit Score Cards for Loan portfolio.  

  • Support other sections in CRD by giving required guidelines on credit risk assessments, compliance of CBM guidelines, Credit policy & guidelines and procedure to submit credit proposals to Credit Committee and other approving authorities for approval.  

  • Support HOD in completing the key initiatives within timeline as per CRD- Strategic Plan for the year.  

  • Coordinate with Technology department and technology champion in CRD on Loan related matters in FBE.  

  • Monitor external environment and ensure that our risk assessments fully understand potential forward-looking implication and take action to mitigate risk if the downside is material.  

  • Regular review of Asset Writing Strategy considering external environment vs Bank’s financial plan.  

  • Produce three articles weekly for external environment monitoring across departments, with other team leaders submitting one article weekly to the Corporate section head, who will then choose the most crucial article for submission to the ERM Department. 

  • Prepare monthly credit risk reports and submit to the relevant party.   

  • Monthly and quarterly escalation of key risk items to be tabled for monthly investor dashboard (highlights and lowlights) and where appropriate lowlights should be with appropriate treatment plans within appropriate timeline.  

  • Training and developing staffs both in branches, department and HO in ensuring a good credit culture.     

  • Coordinate staff matters including recruitment, KPI finalization, and quarterly review of job descriptions and KPIs in collaboration with HR, Team Leaders, and the Head of Department.      

  • Establish & maintain strong, transparent relationships with internal audit and regulators. 

  • Any other duties as assigned by HOD/CRO

Job Requirements

  • Degree in business/commerce (or) banking & finance (or) accounting (or) economics (or) any industry specific qualification 

  • Minimum 5 years in financial industry and 2 years in credit field 

  • Knowledge of financial markets in Myanmar, gained through practical experience

  • Adequate knowledge of Myanmar local regulations 

  • Have a high level of attention to details and strong organization skill and time management abilties 

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications and excellent computer skills 

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills besides strong data analytical, problem solving, leadership and presentation skills

Language

  • Proficiency in English Presentation and Communication
