Job Description

A Great Opportunity for ...

1. Operations and Logistics

  • Coordinate Daily Workflow: Assist the manager in planning and directing daily warehouse activities, including receiving, storing, picking, packing, and shipping goods.
  • Inventory Management: Implement and monitor inventory control procedures (like cycle counting and physical counts) to maintain highly accurate stock levels and resolve discrepancies.
  • Shipping & Receiving: Oversee the scheduling and coordination of incoming and outgoing shipments, ensuring timely and accurate processing.
  • Process Improvement: Analyze current workflows and logistics to identify bottlenecks and make recommendations for operational improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.

2. Staff Supervision and Leadership

  • Team Management: Directly supervise, motivate, and mentor warehouse staff (e.g., associates, leads, supervisors).
  • Training & Development: Participate in the recruitment, onboarding, and training of new employees on warehouse procedures, equipment use, and safety protocols.
  • Scheduling: Assist with preparing work schedules and making daily work assignments to ensure adequate coverage and productivity.
  • Performance Monitoring: Monitor employee performance, provide constructive feedback, and handle minor disciplinary issues, escalating major concerns to the Warehouse Manager.

3. Safety and Maintenance

  • Safety Compliance: Enforce all health and safety regulations (OSHA, etc.) and company safety policies to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Housekeeping: Maintain a clean, organized, and secure warehouse and surrounding work areas.
  • Equipment Management: Ensure proper use and routine maintenance of warehouse equipment, such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and conveyor systems.

4. Administrative and Reporting

  • Documentation: Prepare, process, and maintain accurate records, reports, and documentation related to inventory, shipments, staff hours, and operational performance.
  • System Proficiency: Utilize the Warehouse Management System (WMS) and other inventory software to track data, update records, and generate reports.
  • Liaison: Act as a communication point between the warehouse floor and other departments (e.g., procurement, sales, customer service).
  • Manager Support: Assume full responsibility for all warehouse operations in the absence of the Warehouse Manager.

Job Requirements

Experience & Education

 

  • Minimum Education: High School Diploma or GED is typically required.

  • Preferred Education: An Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field is highly preferred.

  • Warehouse Experience: 2-3 years of proven, hands-on experience in a high-volume warehouse, logistics, or distribution environment.

  • Supervisory Experience: At least 1-2 years of experience in a leadership or supervisory role, managing and directing warehouse staff.

  • Certification: Current Forklift Operator Certification (or the ability to obtain one immediately after hiring) is often mandatory.

  • Leadership and Team Management: Proven ability to lead, coach, train, and motivate a diverse team to achieve operational targets and maintain morale.

  • Inventory Control: Expertise in inventory management principles, including conducting and reconciling cycle counts and full physical inventories, and optimizing stock levels.

  • WMS Proficiency: Strong working knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and other inventory tracking software (e.g., SAP, Oracle).

  • Safety & Compliance: Thorough understanding and commitment to enforcing workplace health and safety (OSHA) regulations and procedures.

  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication for giving clear instructions, communicating with managers and external vendors, and preparing reports.

  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills to troubleshoot and resolve daily operational issues and inventory discrepancies.

  • Attention to Detail: Meticulous accuracy in all warehouse processes, from receiving to shipping.

  • Computer Literacy: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, for generating reports and managing data.

  • Organizational Skills: Excellent planning, organizing, and time management abilities to manage complex workflows and tight deadlines.
