Job Summary

The Head of Construction is responsible for leading and managing all construction operations to ensure projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. This role provides strategic leadership, oversees project teams, manages resources, ensures regulatory compliance, and drives continuous improvement across construction activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee all construction projects from planning through completion.
  • Develop and implement construction strategies, policies, and operational procedures.
  • Ensure projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with quality standards.
  • Manage construction managers, project managers, site engineers, and site supervisors.
  • Monitor project progress and address risks, delays, and operational issues.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and legal requirements.
  • Review and approve project budgets, schedules, procurement plans, and resource allocation.
  • Coordinate with clients, consultants, contractors, suppliers, and government authorities.
  • Lead contract administration, variation management, and dispute resolution.
  • Monitor project financial performance and recommend cost-control measures.
  • Conduct regular site visits and performance reviews.
  • Develop and mentor construction teams to enhance capability and performance.
  • Prepare management reports and provide updates on project status, risks, and key performance indicators.
  • Promote continuous improvement, innovation, and best practices in construction management

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • 10–15 years of progressive experience in construction management.
  • At least 5 years in a senior leadership or management role.
  • Experience managing multiple large-scale construction projects simultaneously.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills.
  • Excellent project planning and execution abilities.
  • Financial and budget management expertise.
  • Contract administration and negotiation skills.
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, regulations, and quality standards.
  • Risk management and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proficiency in construction management software and Microsoft Office applications.
