Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and strategic Senior Purchaser (Pharmacy & Mother and Child Care) to manage procurement activities for pharmaceutical products and mother and child healthcare categories across our wellness and healthcare retail outlets. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in supplier negotiation, market analysis, and procurement operations within the pharmaceutical or healthcare retail sector. This role focuses on ensuring optimal product availability, competitive pricing, effective supplier partnerships, and compliance with procurement policies and regulatory requirements.

 

Job Descriptions

- Manage purchasing activities for pharmaceutical, mother, and child healthcare products to ensure optimal stock availability across retail outlets. 

- Review purchase requirements and approve purchase orders based on demand planning and inventory levels. 

- Monitor supply conditions to prevent stock shortages and overstock situations. 

- Coordinate with internal teams to ensure timely procurement and product availability in stores. 

- Conduct market price surveys to analyze pricing trends for pharmaceutical and mother and child care products. 

- Monitor competitor product availability, assortment, and pricing strategies in the market. 

- Identify potential new products and suppliers based on market demand and trends. 

- Develop and maintain strong relationships with pharmaceutical distributors, mother and child care brands, and suppliers. 

- Lead negotiations on pricing, trade discounts, payment terms, expiry exchange/return policies, and supply conditions. 

- Evaluate supplier performance including product availability, delivery lead time, and service level. 

- Prepare, review, and manage vendor contracts, supply agreements, and commercial terms. 

- Ensure contracts comply with company policies and regulatory requirements. 

- Monitor contract validity, renewal timelines, and supplier commitments. 

- Negotiate and secure promotional offers, trade discounts, and marketing support from suppliers. 

- Monitor promotional performance and ensure proper implementation in stores. 

- Maintain records of supplier promotional agreements and benefits. 

- Analyze sales trends and inventory turnover to support effective purchasing decisions. 

- Coordinate with warehouse and operations teams for stock replenishment and inventory management. 

- Monitor slow-moving items, near-expiry products, and high-demand SKUs. 

- Ensure procurement documentation is accurate and properly maintained. 

- Verify pharmaceutical regulatory compliance, product registration, and supplier certifications. 

- Maintain updated records of pricing agreements, contracts, and supplier terms. 

- Prepare procurement, supplier performance, and market analysis reports.

Job Requirements

- Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field. 

- 3–5 years of experience in purchasing or procurement within pharmaceutical or retail sectors. 

- Strong negotiation and supplier management skills. 

- Ability to conduct market analysis and competitor benchmarking. 

- Solid knowledge of contract management and procurement processes. 

- Strong analytical ability with experience in sales analysis and inventory planning. 

- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data analysis tools. 

- Good understanding of pharmaceutical regulatory requirements and product registration processes. 

- Strong communication, coordination, and organizational skills. 

- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams including operations, warehouse, and marketing.

- Travel to suppliers and retail branches as required.
