▪ Treatment of minor illnesses, injuries and sickness forstaff, pupils and visitors.▪ Attending to serious injuries and ensuring a safe and comfortable transfer to hospital▪ Producing and completing the relevant paperwork andinforming the Principal, Class Teacher and parents, as appropriate▪ Provide instruction in the use of emergency medication that may be needed by particular pupils▪ Maintaining the clinical area ensuring medication is clearly labelled and in date▪ Managing the safe storage and administration of prescribed medication▪ Keeping records of injuries / sickness seen in the clinic▪ Communicating with parents regarding their children’s injury / sickness▪ Informing parents of reported infectious diseases in school▪ Reporting to teaching staff / parents about any developmental or medical issues that may requirefurther medical investigation▪ Giving advice and information to promote health and wellbeing e.g. drugs education, diet etc.▪ Promoting and participating in health education in conjunction withthe Leadership Team and Inclusion staff.▪ Ensuring the provision of and access to a range of appropriate publicity materials on student health issues.▪ Providing training to staff on health care issues and advising on‘Healthy School’ issues▪ To instigate and manage student health checks and dental checks and the administration that goes with it▪ Admin associated with medical and health▪ Update and maintain computer records▪ General upkeep of medical room▪ Child Protection and Safeguarding▪ Infectious disease – Keeping senior management informed about infectious disease and liaising with the Department of Health if necessary and under the supervision of the SLT.▪ Reorganising audiology and visual assessments. Management of School Health Service (SHS) and School Dental Care Service (SDHS) Programme.▪ Any other appropriate duties as allocated by your Line Manager andmembers of the school’s leadership team
Qualifications/Training▪ Professional nursing qualification, qualified nurse ▪ Current training in the medical areaExperience / Knowledge▪ Minimum of 2 years’ nursing experience▪ Capable of attending to both minor and major medical issues▪ Appropriate medical knowledge e.g. Asthma, Epilepsy, Diabetes▪ Managing the safe storage and administration of prescribed medication▪ Management of EpiPens and Ventolin pumps▪ Experience of working with children and adults▪ School working experienceSkills▪ Excellent interpersonal and communication skills▪ High level of care provided▪ Very good standard of oral and written English▪ Organisational and problem solving skills
